Sandhurst Fine Foods is seeking an experienced and professional Operations Manager to coordinate the key operations activities within the Sandhurst business. This critical role is the “heart” of the business and is focused on the delivery of service to our customers.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of Procurement, Production and Warehousing/Logistics to deliver optimum customer satisfaction.
This role has 7 direct reports, with a total of 40 employees across the operations division nationally.
Collectively the teams import, manufacture and deliver a range of quality food products to retail and foodservice distributors nationally. Sandhurst also supplies to an export market with a potential to grow that market.
You will be required to lead, coach and mentor our warehouse and production teams to achieve world-class manufacturing standards and maintain a strong continuous improvement culture.
About the role
- Ensure exceptional delivery of the day-to-day operations, driving optimal performance
- Manage significant change as the site develops through go-live WMS System
- Liaise closely with key stakeholders and ensure 'ways of working' are adhered too.
- Provide operational leadership, direction and support to achieve optimal performance.
- Ensure continual review, improvement and maintenance of operational activities to drive efficiency, service, safety, engagement and value with State Warehouse operations.
- Enable continuous workflow, taking immediate corrective action as required, trouble shooting and undertaking root cause analysis as required.
- Ensure work carried out adheres to Quality, Compliance, Safety, Reliability and Cost requirements.
- Drive engagement across the team, facilitating the sharing of ideas in a way that supports achievement of KPIs and continuous improvement.
- Sponsor and lead change initiatives, including partnering with support functions throughout Supply Chain and other business units.

- Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain; Business; Management and extensive demonstrated experience in a medium – large sized food manufacturing operations. Forecasting and stock control skills are also needed.
- Minimum of 5 years in a “hands on Operational” Management role
- Strong leadership capability with demonstrated experience in a leadership position
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Computer skills and reporting experience
- Experience would span production management, procurement, stock control, quality assurance.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and motivation to drive continuous improvement processes and ensure that capacity is maximised.
- Ability to manage a dynamic and changing workforce with good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible with working hours
- Dedication to the details, from budget management to locating inefficiencies
- A good understanding of GMP, HACCP and WH&S requirements
