This role sits within our broader People Solutions practice; which focuses on the provision of Consulting and Advisory services to our portfolio of valued corporate clients within WHS, Accident & Health, Life, Workers Compensation, Private Health Insurance specialisations and Human Capital Solutions.
Reporting to the Director, Workplace Risk; as National Practice Leader, WHS you will be responsible for developing and executing our go-to-market safety strategy. You will also provide strategic leadership and direction to a passionate team of safety professionals located in Sydney, Perth, Queensland & Melbourne to deliver risk improvement services to our major clients across Australia.
This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Aon offices.

What the day will look like
This is an outstanding, once in time opportunity for a passionate safety professional to lead our national Work, Health & Safety strategy across Australia.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing on a national safety strategy.
- Leading our innovation hub and developing new solutions to address the changing Work, Health & Safety landscape.
- In collaboration with our Asia Pacific Marketing team, develop a marketing strategy to ensure our clients are kept abreast of key changes to the Work, Health & Safety landscape in real time.
- Providing subject matter expertise and strategic leadership to a national team, to deliver of a broad range of safety solutions including:
- Work, Health & Safety Management Systems Reviews.
- Compliance and Risk Management.
- Due Diligence & Governance.
- Strategy & Performance Improvement.
- Mental Health and Psychological Health and Safety.
- Identifying appropriate resourcing solutions, taking into account the needs of the client, individual abilities and the wider needs of the business.
- Providing technical leadership and training to the Workplace Risk team and broader People Solutions business.
- Financial responsibility for the Safety P&L to ensure the safety consulting practice achieves revenue and profit margins.
- Costing, planning, scheduling, resourcing and driving large projects/ programs within the safety practice.
- Business development; expanding engagements with existing clients, sourcing new projects/ consultancy services and engaging with our insurer partners.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
As part of the Aon Workplace Leadership team, your professionalism, drive, passion and expertise are key- to succeeding in this role as well as:
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety required or equivalent.
- Experience in strategically leading health and safety at either a national or regional level across a diverse complex organisation.
- Proven success working in a consultancy firm and / leading small teams or experience with an insurer or a broker.
- Exposure to financial management or running their own business.
- A practical approach with strong knowledge of legislative requirements.
- Knowledge of the workers’ compensation landscape is desirable.
- Confident in presenting to Executives, Boards and 'C' suite executives on safety and risk prevention strategies.
