Nurse Unit Manager - Clinical Trials

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for providing managerial and operational oversight of all clinical trial activities within a CRO environment. Work collaboratively and strategically with the client partners to ensure that all studies are conducted to the highest Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and quality standards, within agreed timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop annual Clinical Operations goals and objectives

• Ensure that resources, personnel and expertise are appropriately prioritised and deployed to successfully and efficiently meet study timelines and budgets.
• Develop and execute operations strategies in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and alliance partners.
• Ensure that clinical study and operational integrity is maintained to the highest standards, that study practices and methodologies are “state of the art” within Clinical Operations.
• Development and Execute Process Improvement systems.
• Adopt and implement agreed new methodologies and technologies in clinical studies, in keeping with new models of study conduct and data analytics.

Manage and Develop Talent

• Inspire and lead a large team to ensure attainment of established goals and objectives.
• Ensure global compliance with all relevant internal and external policies and regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) applicable to Clinical Trials management.
• Promote a high-performance, results-oriented work culture and instill rigor to the selection, development and retention of human capital assets.
• Promote a work environment that includes coaching, mentoring, accountability, feedback and high-performance standards.
• Oversee Clinical Operations functional assignments.
• Optimize performance and continuous development of direct reports.

Implement Clinical Operations Best Practices

• Continue and promote the culture of operating effectively and efficiently.
• Contribute to the ongoing global SOP and standardised work practices development, adoption, adherence and improvement.
• Provide technical and strategic expertise to ensure consistent processes, excellence in planning and execution of Clinical Trials within study timelines.
• Set clear standards and expectations for the accurate and timely execution of Clinical Trials and the operations teams that support them.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with all clinical operations team members and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Organise & conduct internal leadership meetings to share clinical trial strategies, risk mitigation tactics and post study lessons and assessments.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree is required. Nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-5yrs experience in clinical management.
• Thorough working knowledge and understanding of Good Clinical Practices and ICH Guidelines and other applicable international regulations.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
