About the Role
We're searching for a Grade 2 or Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join the team at the Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Service Older persons acute and residential unit, Steele Haughton Unit (SHU). This is a fixed term role to cover parental leave.
The Grade 3 role is suitable for Occupational Therapists with experience working in mental health practice and the Grade 2 role is suitable for a Grade 2Occupational Therapists who may have worked in other areas of practice and are interested in learning mental health practice skills in a supportive environment.
The Occupational Therapist provides occupation-based therapy in a 1:1 and group setting and plays a key role within the therapeutic program across the units. The Occupational Therapist contributes to care, treatment and support including discharge planning for consumers.
This position is an integral part of building the allied health workforce within bed-based settings across GMWHS.
Key Responsibilities
- The provision and evaluation of evidence-based occupational therapy group and individual treatment and interventions for working with older persons.
- Participate in regular professional supervision, professional development and engagement with the Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Service Occupational Therapy network activities.
- Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary therapeutic groups program
- To actively and effectively work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to generic and discipline specific expertise of multidisciplinary team, including Lived and Living Experience Workforce..
- Lead and support the multidisciplinary team regarding sensory modulation assessment and interventions to promote wellbeing and recovery, and where appropriate, assist in managing arousal, distress and enabling participation in meaningful occupations.
Skills & Experience
- Unrestricted registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
- An approved Degree from a recognised school of Occupational Therapy or other qualifications approved for eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapy (Vic.).
- 5-7+ years of post-graduate as an Occupational Therapists
