Job Description
Elastomers Australia are seeking an experienced and hands on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer with a background in the Manufacturing Industry to join our team. The role is based in Campbellfield but would involve travel to other Manufacturing plants based in Thomastown and Sunshine as well as attending work injury appointments. Reporting to the Business Risk and Compliance Manager, this role will act as a business partner to all stakeholders to provide health and safety mentoring and support and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. This role will also focus on developing, maintaining and implementing Health and Safety initiatives, policies and procedures, as well as working closely with the Training / HR team and Operation Managers to ensure training is up to date.
Duties
- Reviewing all activities undertaken in the factories and provide/implement continual improvements in consultation with the workforce and OHS Team
- Ensure relevant Working Instructions and Standard Operating procedures are being adhered to
- Lead risk assessments for the Melbourne operations to ensure adherence to policies and legislation
- Conduct audits of work areas and provide feedback to the supervisor for the area
- Participate in toolbox / pre-start meetings each day
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure OHS registers are maintained in the factories
- Conduct incident investigations with the OHS Team
- Deliver OH&S training and mentoring to stakeholders
- Manage and run OHS projects associated with different departments
- Assist with return to work cases and attend work injury appointments with the injured worker.
Requirements
- Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
- 2+ years experience in a similar type role
- Minimum Certificate 4 in OH&S
- Experience with MyOSH reporting software or similar
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to communicate and develop rapport with all relevant stakeholders both internal and external
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
- Ability to multitask
