Job description

Mort & Co are seeking individuals with production / manufacturing coordination experience to join our team in the operation of our state-of-the-art Cotton Seed Oil Processing plant at our Grassdale feedlot location situated near Dalby in Queensland on a fixed term or full-time basis.

Your role as the Oil Processing Coordinator will provide operational leadership and support to all on shift manufacturing operations and will ensure that all operations and business practices drive productivity as well as the overall safety and quality standards to ensure compliance with all internal and external procedures and production requirements.

This role will have a particular focus on the following key responsibilities:

  • Oversee on shift production processes to ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company requirements. policy, procedure, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute production plans and ensure efficient production runs with minimum downtime to meet manufacturing target and deadlines in place.
  • Coordinating activities and production goals for manufacturing teams specifically focusing on work efficiencies, quality, and turnaround times.
  • Manage production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers to meet shift production goals and to ensure operations are running at optimal levels with minimal downtime.
  • Identify, analyse, and adjust process as necessary during the shift to produce product within the specifications and quality controls in place.
  • Maintain adequate and efficient labour resources, shift scheduling, rotations, breaks and overtime to ensure business efficiency and high-quality production output.
  • Identify, train, and develop suitable individuals to grow within the business.
  • Actively monitor the health and reliability of the plant, liaising with operators and maintenance to ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance activities are scheduled and completed on time, which in turn will optimise the reliability and efficiency of the process.

About you:

  • Skills and/or knowledgeable in modern process, production and manufacturing principles and methodologies
  • Manufacturing line and machine operating experience in large scale manufacturing plants would be highly advantageous.
  • Skills and /or knowledge of SCADA systems (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Previous experience in oilseed processing (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve potential issues throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Strong understanding of Workplace, Health, and Safety in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, motivational skills and the ability to direct multiple projects
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work as scheduled in a flexible, shift-based operation.
