The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work. The Waterways Team works with partners across Council and State Government in the management and development of waterways and waterfront spaces within the municipality. The team provides appropriate facilities to support diverse uses of Melbourne’s waterways.
The Operations & Administration Officer fulfils the primary customer service function of the Waterways office and provides a meet-and-greet service for arriving vessels, introduction to marina facilities and the precinct and answers enquiries from visiting boat owners. The role also assists with daily administrative functions and operational tasks ensuring the Waterways office operates efficiently and effectively, to meet both customer and team needs.
The Operations and Administration Officer will also deliver on the following;
Provide general administrative assistance to the Waterways team
Customer service to marina guests, community partners and internal/ external stakeholders
Upon request, undertake other duties as assigned by the Waterways Operations Coordinator; and Waterways Business Coordinator
Schedule bookings for commercial vessel pick-up and drop-off at passenger transfer locations under direction and in consultation with Operations Officer
Provide a meet-and-greet service for arriving vessels, including docking assistance when required; and introduction to the Marina facilities and addressing enquiries from customers
Selection Criteria
All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to articulate and demonstrate benefits of positive culture and City of Melbourne’s iCare values – Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence;
- Strong customer service skills with an outgoing and energetic personality so as to enhance the customer’s recreational boating experience
- Proven ability with software packages including booking systems such as NewBook, Microsoft Office and financial management;
- Previous administration experience
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with people at all levels
Desirable Skills;
- Marina and/or boat handling experience and general knowledge and skills for maintenance works
- Ability to swim, CPR and basic first aid trained (or willingness to become trained)
- Please note that the requirements of this role is to be available to work across Monday – Sunday, between the hours of 8am – 6pm, and including public holidays.
