Our company is a multi-generational family-owned business based in the southwest of Victoria. Our company prides itself on workmanship and our ability to deliver high quality products into the domestic residential and infrastructure sectors. With a strong focus on domestic housing projects and an increasing love for concrete in domestic builds we are undergoing a 24,000 m2 expansion to our operations.
The Operations Manager's position is to manage all aspects of the factory and yard operations, project coordination, precast production, reinforcement fabrication, finishing of products and logistics involved with the fabrication and delivery of precast concrete elements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work to build systems within the company to ensure the transition into the new facility covering - leadership for the successful day-to-day operations in relation to safety, culture, productivity, financial performance, risk management and customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with the owners to achieve the daily manufacture of high-quality products while monitoring production / productivity rates against project allowances for signs of improvement and system change.
- Organise extensive tender handover meetings with all required team members to discuss specific project requirements and key contractual terms for successful execution and delivery of all projects.
- Liaise with clients and project teams to ensure seamless flows in the design fabrication and delivery of projects as required.
- Track all factory associated costs and expenditure against allotted budgets and allowances in both external and internal projects.
- Establish and maintain production schedules optimising day to day output and revenue.
- Liaise with project staff and design teams to plan production and delivery in advance, while considering client requirements, storage restrictions, factory productivity and profitability, budget compliance and labour resources.
- Work with staff to build skills, knowledge, and system allowing for the effective allocation of human and equipment resources to achieve established goals as required.
- Conduct regular reviews of factory labour levels in conjunction with the program to ensure that the timelines set is achievable and aligned to revenue and profit targets.
- Assess daily operations and seek improvements in production and equipment cost reduction through innovation and system development.
- Working with staff to maintain levels of safety compliant with current legislation and Work Safe Victoria
- Provide and maintain a stable and consistent leadership point for staff, offering an open door to staff concerns and issues.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3 + years of experience in a key leadership/management role at a precast concrete manufacturing facility.
- Must be skilled with budgeting and cost control with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
- Must have strong computer skills with a good ability to learn new programs and technology as required.
- Must have a strong understanding of lean manufacturing and process optimisation.
- Understand and be able to develop systems in Environmental, safety, risk management, and production process controls.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, production and manufacture methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop worker skills.
- Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
