Summary
Service Stream's Utilities division is seeking an Operations Manager - Advanced Metering to join our growing company.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the safe and compliant delivery of services to Service Stream clients whilst maintaining profitability and growth targets across multiple Meter Provider contracts nationally, and complying with company/client policies/procedures and statutory, legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure contracts operate within budgets and that operational efficiencies and effectiveness are maximised.
- Make sound and competent financial decisions for your business unit.
- Prepare weekly financial forecasts and monthly BCRs.
- Develop strong alliances and relationships with all clients to ensure contract development opportunities are identified.
- Attend relevant customer meetings (eg governance meetings) and ensure minuted action items expected of the company are adhered to.
- Ensure any operational issues are promptly rectified to meet project requirements (i.e. IT, supply chain, logistics, etc.)
- Act in accordance with relevant environmental legislation and the company's matrix of environmental responsibilities.
- Promote a systematic approach to Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues and adhere to all HSE policies and procedures
- Act in accordance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation and the company's matrix of OH&S responsibilities.
- Manage, investigate and report any HSE incident, in line with Service Stream's Incident Reporting Process and the client's own requirements
- Cultivate a strong, positive team environment, providing support, guidance and motivation to your business unit.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to operational staff, ensuring all direct reports are equipped with the skills necessary to carry out their duties.
- Conduct Performance Development Reviews and set performance targets with staff
- Maintain across all work types a resourcing program at the levels required to maintain the program
- Effectively manage work orders across programs
- Ensure availability of stock and materials
- Resolve conflicts within your group and manage poor performance (i.e. work practices/output, defects, attendance, punctuality, failure to report, customer complaints etc.)
- Produce and disseminate relevant briefings, updates and information to staff and sub-contractors
- Maintain the contracted level of auditing of field operatives
- Prepare customer and contract reports, including financial, operational and OH&S reports.
- Participate in bid teams as necessary.
- Perform all specified duties under the Company's ISO accredited Management System.
About You
Experience required
- Experience in an electrical engineer role, with meter installation and associated services desirable but not essential.
- Project-management experience in the power industry would be highly regarded.
- At least five years' experience in contract management or an operational-based role.
- People management in large, high-volume operations (operational/field environment desirable)
- Extensive experience in contract, stakeholder and customer management
- Organisational and workforce-planning experience
- Management systems focus (quality, OH&S, risk and environmental)
- Business, financial reporting and budgeting experience
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills, including experience with Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience in problem solving and dealing with complex issues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Qualifications required
- Certificate 4 (or higher) in Business and/or Frontline Management desirable but not essential
- A-Grade Electrical Licence
- CT Metering Accreditation
- Driver's Licence
