Downer Rail & Transit Systems business has a wide portfolio of projects currently in delivery nationally. RTS leverages the in-house capabilities within Downer to offer integrated solutions covering rollingstock, infrastructure, rail systems, operations and maintenance, as well as system integration.
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead a team. This role will be based at our Auburn Maintenance Centre. You will be responsible for delivery of all Rolling Stock Maintenance Activities on the site to the NIOC master schedule, driving quality improvements, implementing cost saving initiatives, organisational development, whilst maintaining a Zero Harm workplace. Working collaboratively with supporting departments the Operations Manager will ensure that the facilities are maintained to enable operations, that commercial outcomes are achieved and engineering best practice is implemented.
What you'll bring
- 8 years Operational experience and/or Leadership experience
- Experience in transport or allied field in a management and operational role
- The ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and develop new business opportunities
- Knowledge of asset management practice and principles
- Provide Downer workers with supervision according to their capabilities to ensure that tasks are performed safely and in accordance with the documented procedures.
- Define and model quality leadership behaviours, including due diligence in managing quality risks.
- Ensure productivity targets set by the NIOC are met to deliver fleet availability.
- Encourage an environment of sharing knowledge and ideas to ensure continuous improvement within the team.
- Ability to understand the fundamentals of a technical maintenance plan
- Ability to read and understand an Enterprise Agreement with a focus on engaging and influencing a high performing group through communication and teamwork
- Ability to lead financial reviews, commercial performance, audits, project reviews relating to operations.
