Located on the Darling Downs, A productive and progressive family owned and managed, myBMP (Best Management Practice) accredited, irrigated and dryland farming aggregation producing winter and summer crops including cotton, corn, wheat, barley and sorghum. Utilizing modern technology and equipment. 

About the Opportunity 

An opportunity is now available to grow your career and step into a Operations Manager/Leading Hand position under the supportive guidance of the owner on their dryland and irrigated cropping operation in Dalby. This role will primarily involve the operation of the latest generation of John Deere machinery for all aspects of dryland/irrigated cropping, management of irrigation systems and leading a team. The position ideally suits candidates with irrigated cropping knowledge seeking to grow their career.

What you need to succeed in this position

• Have a genuine passion for broadacre crop production 
• Experience with operating modern machinery for large scale dryland and/or irrigated crop production
• Ability to lead by example and motivate staff to reach their full potential
• Be able to participate as a member of the team and to contribute to the overall achievement of the company’s objectives
• Sound workshop skills including mechanical and fabrication knowledge preferred
• Have well developed written and verbal communication skills
• Truck licence preferred or willingness to gain

Responsibilities 

• Assist with day-to-day operation of farm to ensure effective commercial and safe operations in line with industry recognised best management practices
• Oversee the management of contractors, permanent and casual staff as required
• Operation of modern John Deere farm machinery for all aspects of dryland and irrigated crop production 
• Operation and maintenance of irrigation system
• General maintenance of farm machinery, plant and equipment
• Work collaboratively in a team environment
