The time has come for our longstanding Manager of our Powder Coating business to retire.
As such we are seeking an experienced Powder Coating professional to join our team as Operations Supervisor
This is not a desk job and would best suit a person who enjoys a hands-on approach. Someone with energy, passion, and enthusiasm - who loves being part of the action and “making things happen”

The Ausdeck Building Systems is a vertically integrated building supply manufacturer, specialising in residential and commercial outdoor living markets.
The Group consists of six different individual companies - each with their own distinct customer groups and value proposition. These companies manufacture and supply to external customers, as well as having their products from across the portfolio packaged into complete ‘kits’, to sell complete project solutions to residential and commercial builders.

- Ausdeck Patios and Roofing (Queensland) – provide insulated roofing sheets
- Ausdeck Patios and Roofing (New South Wales) – provide insulated roofing sheets
- Ausdeck Sheetmetal – provide custom flashings and gutters
- Ausdeck EPS – provide expanded polystyrene (EPS) for roof insulation
- Ausdeck Roll Forming – provide structural steel for house and roof frames
- Ausdeck Powder Coating – provide blasting and metal Powder Coating services
ABOUT THE ROLE
Directly reporting to the Queensland General Manager the successful incumbent will be responsible for the day to day managing of our Powder Coating business, liaising with our loyal customers, intercompany branches and ancillary support services.
The successful candidate will be fortunate to have a two month hand over where they will learn all facets of the role. Guided by the COO, Qld General Manager and Powder Coating -Quality Leading Hand together you will transition the Powder Coating team to a new level.
Your duties will be varied and interesting, ranging from, but not limited to:
- Walk the floor – work harmoniously with employees - providing clear instructions
- Lead manufacturing - with a strong focus on a positive culture – maximise performance
- Work closely with the COO & QLD General Manager ensuring cost control and continuous improvement initiatives are being met
- Work with the Qld General Manager & People & Safety Manager on safety-related activities - including championing safe work practices - perform risk assessments, identify hazards, report and correct safety-related issues. As part of the IPAM Leadership team you will attend monthly meetings and receive ongoing training – both internally and externally
- Work collaboratively with the CFO on the financial planning and budgeting process for the Powder Coating Business
- Ensure customer expectations are met in terms of production quality -minimise remakes and DIFOT
- Clearly communicating production plans and targets with your team through daily toolbox meetings
- Conduct regular quality checks as per company standards ensuring compliance with ISO accreditation
- Work proactively to reduce waste to achieve cost reduction KPIs
- Clearly communicate breakdowns and faults with our Maintenance team – thus reducing downtime and maximising output efficiencies
ABOUT YOU:
This position is instrumental in driving positive cultural engagement within our Powder Coating business and on a larger scale - Ausdeck Building Systems, therefore a key part of this role is the ability to build and maintain relationships internally, and with external service providers.
The successful candidate will have a “lead by engagement” philosophy, be an experienced Manager with Powder Coating and Abrasive Blasting experience and have a strong safety background.
The successful candidate must have the ability to -at all times - maintain a professional persona – despite at times working to shifting goal posts and conflicting timelines. You will also have:
- Previous management experience – preferably 5 – 10 years, within the Powder Coating /Abrasive Blasting sector
- Safety – strong commitment to safety - ensuring procedures and policies are being adhered
- Continuous improvement - experience or understanding with ISO accreditation. Experience with ZOHO and or Pronto will be advantageous
- Strong analytical skills and a business acumen for problem solving and continuous improvement
- Excellent communicate skills – both written and verbal. Ability to clearly articulate operational matters during monthly Senior Management meetings
- Microsoft Suite experience – word, excel
- Inventory management
