About the role
Mater Health has an exciting opportunity for an Orthoptist to join the team in a casual capacity and located at South Brisbane.
You will provide a range of ophthalmic diagnostic tests utilising skills and experience to inform diagnosis and clinical management in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team within the Ophthalmic Service.

Salary-$37.13- $54.43 (HP3) per hour plus superannuation and access to generous salary packaging up to $15,900.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide knowledge and clinical skills in the role of an Orthoptist and provide a range of ophthalmic diagnostic testing as recognised by clinical experience, professional development activities or formal qualifications.
- Utilise knowledge and clinical skills in exercising independent professional judgement in problem solving and clinical management, managing a caseload relevant to orthoptic professional practice and with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
- Provide education and training for multi professional colleagues to ensure that relevant processes and diagnostic testing for Departmental patients is accurate, safe and efficient
- Monitor and report clinical work practices and outcomes within clinical service area.
- Provide support to the ophthalmology Multi-disciplinary team regarding service delivery, equipment, technology and IT systems within the department and the prioritisation and development of ophthalmic clinical services and efficient patient flow.
- Contribute to relevant clinical research activities within the work unit
About you
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role in a large and complex hospital environment coupled with the below
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
