Job description

Occupational Therapist Wanting to Makea Difference

Bring your experience or join our Graduate Program and start your paediatric OT career in a nurturing and supportive environment at Little Buds OT.

  • Predominantly mobile with some in-clinic opportunities.
  • Clinic based in Beaconsfield, Victoria.
  • Spectacular 12-month New Graduate/Early Career Program.
  • Supportive team with individual mentoring and supervision.

WHAT MAKES THIS JOB FANTASTIC?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our wonderful team. Whether you are an experienced OT wanting a change, or a new graduate finding your feet, you will be nurtured and cultivated to become your best self and encouraged to live your best life, as you support our clients to become and be the same.

ABOUT US
Little Buds OT is a neurodiversity affirming predominantly mobile practice with some clinic-based opportunities, now in its 13th year. We are a team of 4 OTs and 2 Therapy Assistants, a Practice Manager and admin support. We have purposely grown at a slow pace, choosing to nurture our therapists and build strong relationships with them. The best thing about being a small team is that we really see you and value the person you are.

A Little Buds OT is Honest, Compassionate, and Driven, believing that helping children is their calling and that their skills, knowledge, compassion, and ability to connect have the potential to change lives.

Our vision is to nurture every child to blossom. If you feel the same way, then we encourage you to read on.

OUR LOCATION
We are a predominantly mobile practice currently servicing the South East suburbs of Melbourne (areas surrounding Berwick, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Drouin…) with the possibility of expanding into other areas if that works for you. Being mobile means you will never feel like you’re stuck in a clinic. You get to see the child in their environment, meet the important people in their lives, and truly get to know who they are.

Our clinic is located in beautiful Beaconsfield and is available for some clinic-based sessions as well as running groups. It can also be used every day for clinicians to use in between clients, when they have a cancellation, for team meetings, and for supervision. One day a week we meet as a whole team so that everyone feels supported and part of an amazing team. On this day, we don't see any clients and instead spend our time catching up with our colleagues, bouncing off ideas, organising our week, creating resources, researching interventions, writing reports, and going out for team lunches to celebrate our wins and special days.

THE ROLE
We work in a strength-based developmental nature and we use the DIR Floortime model to guide our practice.

In this role you will:

  • Work with a varied paediatric caseload (children from birth to adolescence) in a variety of community-based settings.
  • Conduct assessments and provide therapy to meet the needs of children no matter what difficulties or challenges they present with, whether they have a delay or a diagnosis, all the while supporting their families too.
  • We love being creative and finding opportunities to meet the needs and interests of our clients – you will be supported to create and run groups to meet these needs.

OUR 12-MONTH GRADUATE PROGRAM
We have developed and fine-tuned our Graduate Program to help facilitate the transition of new graduates and early career OTs from students into high-quality paediatric-focused, and confident Occupational Therapists. We do this through the provision of continued, tailored, and structured support, with a reduced caseload in the first 12 months of employment (working towards 5 clients per day on 4 days per week). To find out more about our Graduate Program, have a look at our Website, under the Join Us tab.

At Little Buds OT we want you to feel valued and challenged. After the completion of our Graduate Program, we offer a structured Career Progression Pathway to ensure you can continue to grow as a practitioner, have as much role diversity as you desire, and as our team continues to grow you can actively progress your career by stepping into leadership and management roles, if that is your passion.

In addition to the above, we also offer:

  • Flexible working hours & Reasonable KPIs: we understand that everyone is different and has different working styles and responsibilities, and therefore we are open to flexible working hours as well as offering two Personal Well-being Days per year to minimise burn out.
  • Mentoring: ongoing structured support from our highly experienced senior OTs, tailored to suit your skill level and experience.
  • Supervision: individual clinical and group peer supervision. Doing joint visits with other team members is an integral part of how we learn at our practice. During this time you can observe how others work and offer valuable feedback to each other.
  • Office Day (no clients) one day a week: allows all of our therapists a balance between clinical work and other duties such as admin, report writing, research, learning, resource development, etc. It also helps us all feel more connected and supported.
  • Access to our office: team members can access our office in Beaconsfield, to utilise a desk, the kitchen and toilet any time of the week.
  • Travel: paid travel time and paid milage for the use of your car between client appointments.
  • Professional Development: ongoing support to meet your CPD requirements based around your needs and interests, with a generous PD budget.
  • Resources: our resource room is full of assessments, sensory tools, craft materials, games, toys, books, stationery… everything you need for your learning and to Make your job easier.
  • Family Friendly: we encourage a work-life balance.
  • Social: A fun and flexible working environment, with catch ups and team building days.
  • Salary: generous remuneration based on skills, qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and leave. The details of the complete Remuneration Package will be discussed at interview.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Must have completed an Occupational Therapy degree.
  • Full registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
  • Professional indemnity insurance.
  • Current Driver's License and reliable car.
