headspace provides timely access to early intervention mental health support to young people aged 12 – 25. We support young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services, as well as work and study support.
With a focus on early intervention, we work with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives – to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their mental health in the future.
The headspace Southport centre also has a large headspace Early Psychosis service and Lighthouse (a LLW service for therapeutic support of young people with a background of complex trauma).

Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Administration Assistant for our Practice Management team across headspace Southport and headspace Upper Coomera.
This is a full-time position on an initial 6-month max term contract with a view to a permanent role.
In this role, you will support the Practice Manager with providing day to day supervision to a team of 8 Administration Assistants across our headspace Centres located in Southport and Upper Coomera. Our team is very supportive, and we have a great team culture at headspace. We are passionate about helping young people and our offices are designed to create a welcoming space for all.
In this position your key responsibilities will include:
- Support the Practice Manager with roster management of a small team of Administration Assistants to ensure consistent centre coverage.
- Provide guidance and support to staff around the customer management experience.
- Supervise accurate Medicare billing and exemptions process.
- Manage multiple IT systems and be innovative in the use of digital resources to support practice management and the teams working in the centre.
- Contribute proactively to the development of policies, procedures, and work instructions for headspace.
In this role you will be working 5 days per week (Monday to Friday), based between headspace Southport and Upper Coomera dependent on service need.
The gross hourly pay rate is a starting rate of $36 per hour to $38.60 per hour plus super and competitive salary packaging, depending on the successful candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience.
About you
You are an engaging individual with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated recent experience in a Senior Administration position, preferably in a primary health care setting.
- Demonstrated experience in providing support and day to day supervision to a small team of Administration Assistants.
- Previous experience in Medical reception which includes Medicare billing and batching.
- The ability to use initiative and operate with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability to communicate effectively with young people, their families/carers, the public and staff at all levels from all areas of the organisation
- Demonstrated excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the health and welfare issues affecting young people.
