We have an exciting opportunity for a high-performing law student to join our friendly in-house legal team on a casual basis (15 hours a week) in the position of Paralegal. The responsibilities of the role will vary day to day but will include supporting Cochlear's APAC and Latin American Legal and Compliance team with tasks such as contract administration, compliance record management, legal research and review of marketing materials.

While no two days are the same, our Paralegals will typically perform the tasks detailed below.
Legal and Compliance Team Support
- Perform general administrative duties, including responding to routine information requests from the business and entering data into the file management system.
- Support contract administration, ensuring all details are accurate and current.
- Maintain company secretarial records for all subsidiaries.
- Provide litigation support, including preparing chronology of events and responding to requests for documentation.
- Maintain compliance registers in accordance with policies and procedures, and support third party compliance-related due diligence.
- Support the generation of Legal and Compliance training materials.
- Populate compliance templates.
Legal Research
- Monitor changes to relevant laws in the APAC and Latin American regions.
- Perform legal research and draft research memos.
- Under the direction of the Legal Counsel, modify standard templates to meet changes to local laws and regulations and/or changing business requirements.
- Review policies/procedures to ensure compliance with laws in the APAC and Latin American region and Cochlear's compliance policies.
- Review advertising and promotional materials.
About You:
To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Laws student (second year or above) with a distinction average
- Availability to work 15 hours a week (ideally spread over two days)
- Some experience working as a Paralegal or in a legal environment
- Exceptional proofreading skills; accurate with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and confidentiality, prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Highly flexible and adaptable, ability to shift focus easily and quickly
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, friendly and curious
