This key leadership role oversees and coordinates the functions within the Parks and Environment unit. This position will provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers of Parks and Environment Services.

About the position
The Parks and Environment Coordinator is primarily responsible for the preparation and management of technical matters related to programs within the Parks and Environment Sub-Unit, including the efficient development and renewal of documentation and specifications.
The occupant will also provide high level technical support to staff across the City in relation to the Sub-Unit’s operations and best practice, whilst also coordinating the development and implementation of projects and programs for the City’s parks, reserves and streetscapes.
The successful candidate will support the City by:
- Plan and prioritise projects, programs, and initiatives undertaken by the Sub-Unit, with accountability for achievement of optimal outcomes.
- Establish and monitor work plans, outputs and timelines to ensure conflicting deadlines are met and provide progress reports as needed to mitigate risks.
- Advocate, negotiate, problem solve and gain the cooperation of a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders as needed to achieve complex Sub-Unit objectives.
- Organise quotations and estimates in accordance with budget management requirements.
- Support the Parks and Environment Manager to identify and facilitate innovation, change and continuous improvement initiatives in line alignment with the City's Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan and operational plans.
- Assist the Parks and Environment Manager in the execution and control of planning, coordination and evaluation of operational objectives, including analysis and interpretation of multi-discipline projects to ensure the Sub-Unit’s objectives are achieved within budget allocation.
Essential Criteria
- Diploma or higher level qualification in horticulture, arboriculture, environmental management or similar discipline, or extensive relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the management of people and budgets in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in coordinating parks projects, programs and services.
- Well-developed organisational skills and initiative, including an ability to work on multiple projects, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines despite competing priorities.
