Purpose of the role
Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent have come together to form NGM Group, a leader in customer-owned banking. We currently have an exciting, permanent, full-time opportunity available for a dynamic senior payroll professional to join our high-performing, collaborative finance team.
As our Payroll Manager, you’ll lead the Payroll Team and function for NGM Group and will be responsible for ensuring the accurate completion of NGM Group’s end-to-end payroll process via TechnologyOne, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, modern awards and internal procedures. What will your key responsibilities include?
- Providing supportive and effective leadership to the Payroll team (approx. 5 staff) to ensure the accurate completion of NGM Group’s end-to-end payroll process, ensuring the team meets appropriate service levels and effectively delivers its key business function.
- Representing Payroll during audits, including providing investigation and management action for any findings.
- Representing Payroll for relevant NGM Group initiatives and projects.
- Assisting with the development of, and drive, data, process and system strategy for the Payroll function.
- Staying abreast of legislation and regulations related to payroll, ensuring payroll practices align with legal requirements and promptly addressing any discrepancies or issues. Where relevant, complete and document legislative reviews.
- On management request, generate and distribute payroll reports, including analysis of payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Managing month and year end processing in accordance with procedure and process.
- Collaborate with HR & Payroll Systems Analysts to investigate complex process improvements and prioritise outstanding requests.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience (5+ years) in payroll administration, with demonstrated proficiency in payroll processing and compliance (minimum payroll > than 500 staff).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role, delivering positive results for your team and the business, and supporting your team’s growth and development.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and processes including tax, superannuation, and long service leave.
- Demonstrated experience in business process improvement.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Highly developed communications skills and the ability to establish working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
