About The RoleThe Payroll Officer is tasked with ensuring the accuracy and punctuality of fortnightly pays. The role involves supporting the financial stewardship of the organisation, specifically in relation to payroll procedures for the ASRC. This includes overseeing salary packaging, superannuation, PAYG, and workers' compensation reconciliations and responding to any payroll related enquiries from employees.Additionally, the Payroll Officer is responsible for maintaining provisions for Annual Leave, Long Service Leave, Portable Long Service leave, and other personnel-related tasks such as calculations, reporting, and necessary provisions. Collaboration with the business, particularly the People & Culture department, is essential to guarantee that the workflows for the mentioned processes are well-suited for their intended purposes, enabling the business to function efficiently and in accordance with established policies and governance standards. About YouThe successful candidate will bring to the position a strong knowledge of and experience providing accurate and timely processing of end-to-end payroll. The successful candidate will also possess the following attributes, skills and experience:
Operational knowledge pertaining to personnel management, including interpreting personnel related policies (e.g. leave policies) and Industry Awards
Excellent numeracy skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to effectively use payroll and accounting system (ERP)
Team player, ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with others
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to analyse and problem solve
Expert excel skills
Project management, organisation and prioritisation skills
Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia as well as previous experience working within a not-for-profit environment, would also be advantageous.
