About this opportunity
This position accurately processes Council payroll transactions to administer remuneration compensation in an efficient and timely manner. Within this role you will administer employee timesheets, leave applications, allowances, deductions, summary of earnings, reports and payroll databases to provide efficient timely compensation payments and services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administer remuneration and payroll functions to support the preparation and completion of the fortnightly processing cycle of the payroll across Council.
- Apply sound judgement and interpret a range of Industrial Instruments as they relate to local government payroll matters to undertake a range of payroll activities.
- Deliver quality customer service to respond to enquiries, resolve payroll discrepancies and provide assistance across a range of payroll and associated matters for leaders and staff in a diverse workforce.
- Collect, calculate and enter payroll data and ensure that payroll transactions including wages, tax withholdings and deductions are processed accurately, within prescribed timelines and in compliance with legislative and other requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee remuneration systems data and, in consultation with the Coordinator Payroll, assist with any preparation and system testing and implementation of new and/or amended system processes as required.
To succeed in this role, you will require;
- Experience in the delivery of the maintenance and processing of a payroll functionalities within a medium to large and diverse work environment.
- Efficient data entry skills coupled with digital literacy including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to quickly learn and use different software programs including Councils electronic data management system (ECM) and Technology One (highly regarded).
- Ability to multitask, work to and meet deadlines as part of an encouraging team
- Proven attention to detail, mathematical and time management skills.

Conditions of employment will be in accordance with Council’s Certified Agreement and relevant Awards with the remuneration commencing at $70,011.43 pro rata per annum which is set to increase from 1 July 2024 and generous superannuation contributions.
This position will be maximum term full time until 30 June 2025.
