This role, working closely with the financial accountant and management accountant, will undertake all duties related to the management of our payroll function including administration of the payroll system, weekly payroll execution, assistance with quarterly statutory obligations (PLSL and Superannuation), EOM close and budgeting.
Key Accountabilities
Payroll administration
- Review and implement changes to Award and Employment standards.
- Manage the setup of the payroll system including pay categories & rates, leave templates and ensuring integration from the HRIS of employee data
- Working with People, Development & HR and Operations team develop and implement continuous improvement activities to assist with the effectiveness of staff on and off boarding, payroll data capture and payroll execution.
- Manage the administration of the salary packaging benefits, including novated leases including new staff education where applicable
Payroll execution
- Prepare and capture all pay run inclusion information including travel claims, deductions, additional payments, and timesheets
- Complete the weekly calculation and finalisation of payroll.
- Working with our Operations team, answer payroll enquiries about timesheets, superannuation, taxation,wage rates and salary packaging from staff.
- Calculate and submit superannuation and PLSL payments, Workcover remuneration, government payments such as parental leave and child support and any other requirements for reporting around payroll.
- Ensure staff information relevant to payroll is updated in Workplace
EOM close
- Contribute to the EOM close by assisting with the reconciliation of key payroll accounts and having input into payroll accruals.
- Provide input into the EOM reporting process including providing qualitative information that assists with variance to budget.
Administration and support
- Provide information to the finance business partners around overtime calculations for inputting into client quoting
- Provide support to the wider business around the payroll function including education and training, continuous improvement and project delivery as required.
- Maintain appropriate record keeping.
- Participate in the annual budgeting and audit process along with the development, implementation and management of internal controls.
To be successful you’ll have
- Enthusiasm and passion for supporting people with disabilities.
- Strong understanding and ability to interpret NDIS guidelines and requirements.
- Experience in high volume payroll (700+ timesheet employees) functions.
- Experience in award and NES interpretation and implementation.
- Excellent customer service orientation, listening skills, written and oral communication skills along with the ability to lead and mentor staff.
- Experience with large payroll and/or HRIS systems, with exposure to Employment Hero and HeroPay beneficial but not required.
- Tech savvy with G Suite, MS office applications, Xero and a quick adopter of new software applications.
