About the role
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and controlling the organisation’s payroll and records.
• Calculates earning and distributes wages and salaries within specified timeframes
• Process additional hour timesheets for monthly, weekly, and fortnightly employees
• Complete previous vs current payroll reconciliations for all pays
• Maintains up to date knowledge of agreements/awards and contract interpretation in relation to leave entitlements, overtime, allowances etc.
• Assist with the reconciliation of payroll, insurance, superannuation payments, payroll deductions, payroll tax and fringe benefits tax
• Assists with preparation of relevant management reports, such as weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end reports on hours worked, leave accruals and tax deductions
• Maintains records of leave accruals
• Update and maintain payroll records
• Create, review and analyse leave reports
• Complete STP Requirements for employee pay data
• Liaise with employees and management on payroll inquiries
• Calculate and processing termination payments
• Review processes and recommend improvements to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll function
• Liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of Payroll
• Complete Payroll Journals
• Support Operation Manager with reports
• Support the finance team with Payroll and reporting duties as directed
• Process of any employee’s approved kilometer claims
• Process out of cycle payments
• Review and action emails sent through Payroll-Australia.
• Attend weekly HR meetings
• Complete monthly payroll Audit data and processes
• Maintains time and attendance parameters to align with current EBAs and awards
Skills and experience
• 3-5 years’ previous experience in a payroll environment
• Training or experience in accounting, administration, or human resource
• Familiar with and able to apply State Legislation (SA, WA, QLD & NSW) / Fair Work Australian Legislation (Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Terminations, Super Funds) / Awards / Enterprise Bargaining Agreement
• Experience with Industrial and Employee Relations
• Experience with EBA interpretations
• Workers Compensation knowledge
• Experience liaising with employees and management on ALL payroll inquiries
• Must have experience dealing with Blue Collar & White Collar Payroll
• Preferred experience in ADP Payroll System
• Advanced experience with Microsoft products
Qualifications & Training for the role:
• Certificate IV, a Degree or a Diploma in Accounting desired
