Formed in Ballarat in 1995, Damascus College is a Christ centred co-educational Catholic secondary school providing education to over 1200 students and employing more than 180 staff. Founded in the values and commitment of the Sisters of Mercy and the Parish Priests of Greater Ballarat, the College is governed by the Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL).
The Role
The College currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional to join the business as the People Relations Advisor.
Reporting to the Leader of People and Culture and working in collaboration with the Leadership Team and other key stakeholders, the People Relations Advisor will be instrumental in driving HR compliance, end to end recruitment, onboarding and staff engagement.
This role also supports the effective functioning of the College through the maintenance of the Staff Handbook, enacting of Position Descriptions, Compliance Modules, WorkSafe practices and the administration of future HR IT solutions.
The Right Person
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, knowledge and experience in a similar position with exposure to Health and Safety
- Demonstrated internal stakeholder management skills including strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to manage relationships with executive staff and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Experience providing first line advice and support to business operations and management queries, including recruitment, staff wellbeing, engagement and retention
- A willingness to learn and understand the education landscape
- An understanding of effective change management
- Demonstrated commitment to and engagement with the College’s Catholic Culture, Vision and Values.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to the ethos of Damascus College as a Catholic school in the Mercy tradition.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team work skills
- Strong Information Communication Technology skills
