What you will be doing:
An exciting opportunity is available to join the Family Metabolic Health Service as a Physiotherapist Level 4 on a temporary basis. In this role you will be responsible for the development, co-ordination and provision of expert and high-quality physiotherapy services to inpatients, outpatients, groups, and staff of the NBMLHD, with a focus on obesity-related assessment and management. These services include individual and group-based interventions, including gym and hydrotherapy groups. This position is actively involved in and leads quality improvement and service development activities, including supporting and contributing to relevant research linked to the FMHS and activities related to integrated care for obesity and Metabolic Health in the NBM region.
The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team with physicians, clinical psychologists, dietitians, midwives, allied health assistants, clerical staff and nursing staff associated with the FMHS. They will also be required to provide advice to external healthcare professionals who are also caring for patients engaged with the FMHS and on safe transport of individuals with severe obesity and compromised mobility. They will provide education, advice and support to other clinicians regarding physiotherapy and physical activity for patients with obesity +/- adverse Metabolic Health and/or who have had metabolic and obesity surgery (MOS).
This position will be required to assist in preventing and managing the many complex needs of patients with obesity through weight management, health coaching, and treatment management and referral for associated conditions.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection Criteria to be Addressed: * Degree in Physiotherapy and National Physiotherapy Registration with AHPRA.
- Extensive clinical experience with chronic and complex diseases and demonstrated high level of knowledge, skills and clinical expertise suited to the holistic management of obesity and Metabolic Health.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, as well as experience in the clinical supervision of undergraduate physiotherapists.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical physiotherapy policies and procedures and demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and knowledge of and experience with quality improvement and evidence-based practice. Interest in research.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice to service managers on clinical service development, practice and design in response to demands and client stakeholder needs in relation to physiotherapy and obesity services.
- Current driver’s licence.
