Apollo Music Academy (AMA) is a young and rapidly growing instrumental tuition academy conducting lessons in 4 schools, looking to expand its community of musicians and provide more opportunities to learn, perform and celebrate music. We would like to offer the opportunity for a new teacher to join our team, share their knowledge of music and their instrument, and to nurture their students into accomplished musicians.
The opportunity is to privately teach a cohort of enthusiastic students at our schools around Geelong. These private lessons are normally 1-on-1, ranging from raw beginner to intermediate. No prior teaching experience required, however prior work experience as an instrumental teacher (or similar position) will be an added advantage for candidates. Additionally, proficient communication, organisation and instrumental skills are essential for teaching music.

Experience:
- No prior teaching experience required - mentoring and assistance supplied by AMA.
- Adequate knowledge and experience of their instrument.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Planning out lessons to cater for each student based on their ability and understanding,
- Teaching techniques of playing their instrument correctly,
- Teaching fundamentals of music theory and notation,
- Providing feedback to students (and parents where appropriate),
- Preparing students for upcoming performances and exams,
- Ensuring that lessons are enjoyable for their students.
Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of various musical techniques,
- A vast knowledge of melody, rhythm, pitch and other fundamentals of music,
- Ability to read and decipher notation,
- Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of students,
- Ability to recognise and understand the strengths and weaknesses of students,
- Time management,
- Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must have a Working With Children’s Check or equivalent (VIT, etc.),
- Must have transport available to arrive to and from work.
