As a Policy Officer you will be a key member of the Policy and Legislation Division which serves to apply, review and appropriately maintain Queensland's revenue legislation and provide reliable revenue policy advice to the Queensland Government.
Key accountabilities include:
-Collaborate with team members in the development of policy proposals in relation to Queensland revenue laws to deliver a simple, efficient, and equitable revenue system.
-Analyse and reviewing the application of Queensland revenue laws and other relevant legislation to changing commercial circumstances (including opportunities for revenue avoidance and evasion),
-Identify provisions which require amendment and make appropriate submissions.
-Collaborate with team members in the development and drafting of revenue legislation.
-Analyse and compare revenue legislation of other jurisdictions for continuous improvement.
-Prepare briefings, submissions, reports and correspondence and where relevant, consult on the implementation of recommended outcomes.
-Actively participate as a member of a project team on special projects as required.
-Ensure compliance with recordkeeping standards while managing timely, accurate and complete information to enable smarter decision making.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- An ability to interpret and apply legislation and case law.
- A sound understanding of related commercial and administrative law and practice.
- An ability to contribute to the development of revenue policy and legislation.
