About the Role

We are looking for highly capable Point of Sale Technical Specialist who will be Just Group’s subject matter expert on the hardware and applications used at the point of sale and related host systems (e.g. SMS & RMS).  The key function of the role will be to provide expert guidance to the business, systems administration of the POS systems.

Responsibilities

• The end-to-end data & process flows between Store Managers, Regional Managers and the JGL’s AS/400 apps
• Assessing the impact of new or proposed releases of applications & technologies (including changes to upstream & downstream applications)
• Ensuring all rollouts include sound risk mitigation & roll back plan.
• 2nd & 3rd Level support for POS Systems including diagnosing the cause of problems and implementing permanent or temporary solutions as required
• Taking general Help Desk calls from stores during peak periods
• Assisting with diagnosing & resolving system problems at stores
• Participating in and contributing towards wider IT Group and Team effectiveness
• Actively looks for opportunities to help peers with non-POS systems / issues where time permits

Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with POS hardware & software (ideally Retail Directions)
• Demonstrated ability to test software, analyse results and manage defects
• Ability to develop clear and concise documentation
• Ability to plan and manage implementations
• Sound SQL development & debugging skills
• Enjoy working as a team
• Have brilliant problem-solving skills
