The Role:
We are looking for a Product Purchasing/Pricing Manager with a deep understanding of the computer peripherals, components, and gaming systems market. This role demands a professional with exceptional commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the corporate tech and gaming markets. You will be responsible for making savvy purchasing decisions within the company budget and strategically selling these products for a profit. A thorough understanding of the tech market's nuances, pricing strategies, and customer demand in the realms of computer hardware and gaming systems is essential.
This position goes beyond basic purchasing duties. We are looking for a candidate with solid industry connections who is comfortable reaching out to corporate clients to negotiate and secure deals with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute product purchases aligning with overall business performance goals, taking ownership of vendor risk management.
- Manage and oversee your assigned product portfolio, ensuring profitable purchasing and selling strategies.
- Analyse market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Develop and recommend to the sales and marketing team effective sales strategies, determining the optimal time and price for product sales.
- Actively participate in a counter duty roster, engaging in regular customer-facing periods to better understand customer needs and enhance service delivery.
- Evaluate sourcing options for products mostly locally but sometimes overseas, structuring demand plans and forecasting re-order trigger points by SKUs in collaboration with logistics and software teams.
- Check, validate and challenge price increases from suppliers, ensuring adjustments and justifications are in line with market trends to prevent erosion of sales
- Review pricing efficacy, adjusting as required to grow sales and retain desired margin
- Maintain data integrity (obsolete and inaccurate pricing, product code set-up and rationalisation)
- Review slow moving inventory and develop remedial action plans in collaboration with the sales team and marketing team to optimise ROI
- Daily review of margin report against sell price, implementing corrective action to ensure business sustainability
- Analysis and interpretation of sales trends from multiple sources
- Profitability analysis, and reporting on performance (by product, customer, industry, region/area etc.)
- Coordinate with freight forwarder companies if required.
- Conduct analysis of inventory performance reviewed against price point and market, making recommendations to increase sales revenue
- Proactively enhance inventory control, cost-effectiveness, and ageing control, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and streamline processes and procedures.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability and customer focus within the Purchasing Team
