Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Rights in Ageing Inc (GRAI) was formed in Perth in 2005 to protect the rights and well-being of older LGBTI people. We are a community controlled, culturally safe, not-for-profit organisation, working to ensure that older LGBTI people will be safe and welcomed wherever they are.
Position Objectives
The Pride Intergenerational Housing Pilot Project is designed specifically for the LGBTI community, connecting older LGBTI people and LGBTIQA+ students, including those from international, regional, rural, or remote backgrounds in Western Australia.
The pilot aims to keep older LGBTI people in their own homes for longer and reduce their social isolation and loneliness.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct intakes and assessments to determine housing suitability and student needs and eligibility.
- Match and support landlord with appropriate student applicant.
- Match and support students with affordable, safe, and accessible housing options.
- Maintain supportive relationships with landlords and students.
- Create and maintain accurate records and files for each client.
- Provide regular reports and updates to management and funding agencies.
- Provide admin support to the reference group.
- Attend training and professional development opportunities as required.
Essential Criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of work.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable car.
Desirable Criteria
- Tenancy/housing advocacy experience.
- Aged Care /Disability support experience.
- Experience in providing emotional support and de-escalation strategies if required.
- Lived experience as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
