Principal DevOps Engineer, DCS Insights & Data Accelerator, Flexible working, based in Sydney, Grade 11/12

One of the core teams for this leading Advanced Data Analytics capability in NSW Government is looking for a Cloud Engineer to help uplifting its state-of-the-art platforms, establishing truly automated CI:CD processes, looking at new tooling and where appropriate helping to further secure its already industry-leading Advanced Data Analytics platform.
This team operates entirely on the cloud, utilizing all 3 major cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud but primarily Azure. You will be responsible for the architecture, design, development, testing, and operations of the platforms. We are looking to fill a principal role in the team. The role provides a lot of opportunity to take ownership and deliver.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintaining high quality secure code and infrastructure, identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities leveraging tools like Cloud Strike
- Implementation and management of Azure cloud security services
- Working with programming/scripting languages suitable for cloud automation
- SIEM logging & event management tools such as Sumologic
- Operations, maintenance, platform reliability engineering, and security with IAM solutions like OKTA
- CI/CD, DevOps automation engineering and processes using tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Significant Cloud DevOps Engineering background and experience
- Deep technical experience in infrastructure design, build and deployment, including private and public cloud, networking, connectivity, storage, virtualization, and identity.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional certifications
- Demonstrated currency of knowledge in the areas of technical infrastructure, application services and cloud environments
- Demonstrated experience with SaaS/PaaS/IaaS environments
- Dealing with a diverse range of complex matters and highly conceptual issues, to recommend practical solutions, often within limited timeframes
- Translate technical and complex information in simple terms for a diverse set of stakeholders
- Knowledgeable in various technical areas (networking/communications, server operating systems, web servers, application servers, database systems, SaaS concepts etc.
- Knowledgeable in process improvement methods, procedures, metrics development, documentation, and reporting.
- Experience with and knowledge of issue management systems (i.e. Zendesk)
- Ability to lead work activities, an ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner across cross-functional teams assisting in the resolution of service impacting changes
- A high level of initiative and self-motivation coupled with an ability to take the lead and make decisions
- Experience in scoping, defining and managing IT projects from end-to-end
