This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed educator to work within the Statewide Services division. Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most.
The Curriculum Priorities branch provides advice to schools and the system and leads the development of strategies, professional learning, resources and tools that strengthen the capability of public schools and the profession. We are looking for a team member who has a thorough understanding of contemporary approaches to delivering the curriculum and other teaching and learning priorities.
As Principal Education Officer, you will design, lead and facilitate opportunities that build teacher capability and assist with the implementation of the Department’s teaching and learning priorities. The successful applicant will research, plan, implement and evaluate specialist teaching and learning services and support in response to the needs of public schools. The role requires flexibility, responsiveness, project management, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to effectively deliver operational and strategic directions.

1. Demonstrated substantial knowledge and understanding of contemporary, evidence-based practices related to teaching and learning and school improvement.
2. Demonstrated highly developed skills and extensive experience in developing and implementing successful teaching and learning initiatives, programs, projects or strategies at the school, region, network and/or system level.
3. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and influence change related to teaching and learning.
4. Demonstrated highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.
6. Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports, briefings and professional learning resources.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
