About the role
The position of Principal HR Advisor forms an integral role of the Workforce Management department. The role is responsible for providing accurate and timely Workforce Management advice and support to the department's Manager, Senior Management and Principals to support the delivery of organisational strategic objectives.
What you'd do as our Principal HR Advisor
- Provide professional advice and support to management and employees regarding workforce planning, job design, recruitment and on and off boarding, employee relations, performance management and conflict resolution
- Assist in promoting and monitoring adherence to Workforce Management policies and processes, and relevant legislation across DCR and ClearSky
- Work collaboratively with Management, Senior Managers and Principals to provide professional advice on employment relation matters, regarding terminations, show causes and warnings
- Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries in accordance with DCR and ClearSky’s policy and procedures, liaise with management as required and escalate to other departments or Management as necessary
- Contribute to the development and review of high-quality management reports and information on a range of HR metrics and trends
- Collate data and analyse trends in relation to Employee Relations, Recruitment, Retention, Workplace Health & Safety, Training and Development and Remuneration
- Attend and participate in development and review of policies and procedures, initiatives and projects as required from time to time as required by Management and Principles
- Manage and provide advice on internal grievances and complaints in collaboration with Manager (Workforce Management)
- Assist the Manager (Workforce Management) to identify, establish, improve and maintaining HR processes within DCR and ClearSky
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve Workplace Health and Safety processes to ensure compliance with all relevant legalisation across DCR and ClearSky Head Office
- Oversee the Workplace Health and Safety Risk Management process across DCR and ClearSky and provide Senior Management with assistance and advice as required
- Keep up to date with relevant legalisation and compliance requirements through professional development opportunities
- Ensure all requests and inquiries relevant to the responsibilities of Principal HR Advisor are addressed within a timely manner
- Exercises initiative in making improvements to work processes and outcomes
- Contribute to the managerial and operational environment and culture of DCR to clearly demonstrate ownership of and commitment to the corporate vision, the capacity to deliver business objectives cost-effectively, accountability for results, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement, adherence to contemporary ‘best practice’ care management and a team approach to operations
- Maintain a safe and non-discriminatory workplace while adhering to safe work practices
- Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to the organisation’s client and corporate data and information
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- Proven experience in a senior HR role, preferably in an advisory capacity.
- Ability to develop and oversee effective policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Possession of or willingness to apply and qualify for a Queensland Government ‘Positive Notice for Child Related Employment’ (Blue Card).
- Possession of or willingness to apply and qualify for a Queensland Government ‘Disability Services Positive Notice Card’.
- Possess a current driver’s license.
- Possess a ‘Proof of Vaccination’ for COVID-19 by DCR policy.
