The K-2 Strategy Branch in the Early Childhood Division is looking for someone who is motivated to support the design, development and management of a suite of practical resources and capability programs to support the delivery of sustainable improvements for children in the early years.
About the Department of Education:
The Early Childhood Division of the Department of Education leads the development and implementation of policy, funding and regulatory frameworks to ensure all children from birth to 8 years are engaged in high-quality programs and services that support learning and development, and successful transitions.
Key state-provided programs and activities overseen by the Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2) Strategy Branch include: State Delivered Kindergarten, eKindy, and building professional expertise in the early years, including teaching, leading, learning and transitions.
Your Role:
The Principal Program Officer role in the K-2 Strategy Branch presents an opportunity to make a positive impact and build organisational capability to improve outcomes for Queensland children and families.
You will lead with influence to develop a suite of capability resources to support schools to implement a range of activities contributing to the state-wide approach to quality teaching and learning in Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2).
You will need to be highly organised, agile, able to manage competing priorities and expectations and also have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with regional, internal and external stakeholders.
The role will involve developing a suite of resources to enhance the learning outcomes of all learners with a focus on evidence-based early childhood pedagogies to support the enactment of the QKLG and Australian Curriculum in Kindergarten to Year 2. Other responsibilities will include developing a range of capability resources and consulting with stakeholders to prepare advice on quality practice across the K-2 sector.

- A strong knowledge and application of the early years curriculum frameworks and pedagogies that support learning in K-2 learning contexts to support the engagement and wellbeing of all learners,
- Experience teaching in a Kindergarten to Year 2 setting
- Knowledge of the National Quality Standards (NQS) and School Improvement Tool (SIT)
- Development of resources to support the enactment of the curriculum frameworks across K-2
- Development of capability resources and programs,
- Experience with stakeholder management, departmental processes (procurement, copyright) and reporting;
