Job description

Location Profile

Quarry Hill Primary School is located close to the Bendigo CBD and serves a well-established residential area. It is one of the oldest schools in the area and celebrated 150 years of education as school 1165 in 2023.

The school's vision is, "Quarry Hill Primary School students are empowered to be engaged learners. Our community fosters a culture of respect and belonging."

Our three core values are Kind, Curious and Brave. These values underpin much of the work of our School Strategic Plan and our Annual Implementation Plan. Ongoing modelling of our vision and values has been vital in promoting respectful interactions within our school community.

At Quarry Hill Primary School, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality education for our students. We are in the second year of our School Strategic Plan having completed our school review during Term Two, 2022.

Our two School Strategic Plan goals are:

1. To optimise the learning growth of all students in literacy and numeracy.

2. To improve the health and wellbeing of all students.

Our 2024 Key Improvement Strategies are:

1. Develop and embed a multi-tiered response for all students

2. Develop and embed a whole school approach to teaching numeracy

3. Strengthen a whole school approach to literacy

4. Define and embed a whole school approach to student voice.

Our commitment to evidence-based reading instruction is based on the Science of Reading research. Big Ideas in Mathematics provide an organising framework for the teaching of Mathematics across our school. Resources to support students' wellbeing and mental health have been boosted by the appointment of a school Health and Wellbeing Coordinator (0.2 EFT) and an Inclusion Coordinator (0.6 EFT). We also have a Wellbeing Worker (0.4 EFT). Our partnership with Dogs Connect supports the work we do with our wellbeing dog, Ferdi. Ferdi helps provide emotional support to our students and an opportunity for them to learn the skills of self-regulation.

The School Improvement Team oversees the performance of the school in relation to school goals and priorities. This team consists of the Principal, Assistant Principal, Learning Specialist (Mathematics), Leading Teacher (School Improvement Initiatives), Inclusion Coordinator, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, Data Specialist and Team Leaders. It has the responsibility for leading the strategic planning process, as well as providing clear and achievable goals and targets. Our team works to build staff and leadership capacity and is the driving force for a culture of learning in our school.

The school has a total of 324 enrolments and 30 staff, including 2 principal class, 22 teaching staff and 7 ES staff.
