The Opportunity
As the Principal Tenement Manager, you will play the lead role in supporting land access, new tenure acquisitions and protecting MinRes tenement portfolio, in line with business strategy and statutory requirements.
Leading a team, you will collaborate with key business stakeholders in the development and execution of MinRes tenement strategy, providing sound and reliable advice to the business regarding risk management, tenement security and acquisition strategy.
This position will report directly to the Manager Land Access and be based at our MinRes HQ Office located in Osborne Park.
Your primary responsibilities may include.
- Manage MinRes portfolio of mining tenements in compliance with relevant legislation and business strategy.
- Lead the Tenements team in the protection of MinRes tenement assets, ensuring accurate and timely execution of compliance actions in accordance with the Mining Act, Mining Regulations, Land Administration Act and other relevant legislation; including, managing expenditure monitoring and reporting, and the lodgement of statutory documentation to support extension of terms, transfers, surrenders, caveats and mortgages.
- Manage an accurate and comprehensive tenement database, and associated tenement management and reporting systems, driving business improvements, where required, to mitigate against risk of forfeiture and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with Strategic Planning, Exploration and Geology and Business Development teams to develop and execute tenement application and divestment strategies for existing and greenfield sites.
- Support the wider Land Access team, as required, in the management of Wardens Court proceedings.
- Ensure MinRes operates in accordance with legal and regulatory frameworks, through regular review and improvement of policies, processes and procedures for tenement acquisition and compliance.
What is required?
- Tertiary Qualifications in Law, Geology, Planning or in a related discipline
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing tenements pursuant to WA Mining Act legislation.
- Prior experience with tenement management and compliance systems (for example, LandTracker, Expenditure Watch, ERP, GIS systems, or similar)
- Excellent working knowledge of the Mining Act, Mining Regulations and Land Administration Act as they apply to mining tenure in Western Australia
- Project management skills and an aptitude for managing competing priorities
- An outcomes-orientated problem solver, with proven negotiation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
