AddressThe Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing range of services to the twenty-three islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland. The island is 2.5 hours flight from Cairns.
Mornington island is the largest island of the group and the township of Gununa located on the southern end of the island, contains the Council’s officers and workshops, the community's primary services providers are also based here such as the local Schools, the Hospital and Aged Care, Emergency Services and other Government Agencies, Shopping and town also houses the majority of the Shire’s population.
The Role:
A strategic leadership role to drive effective and value-for-money procurement activities and be instrumental in delivering the strategic priorities and business needs through all aspects of procurement, purchasing, and contracting for the council.
General Responsibilities (but not limited to):
The manager will be responsible for managing end to end procurement activities for nominated projects, reporting on procurement activities, compliance, and data management, supporting council to achieve continuous improvement, procurement outcomes including value for money, environmental sustainability, and social support.
A successful applicant will need to possess qualification in procurement, contract management or similar with solid understanding and experience in procurement principles and industry best practices.
