About the Role
This role identifies customer and business user needs – in connection to the products and services offered by icare - and works with cross-functional teams to manage product releases in a way that maximises the value experienced by the customer. This role contributes to the strategic cultural evolution to agility by displaying mature Agile practices working as part of Squads; they build understanding and positive experience for colleagues who are new to agility – explaining the Product Owner’s role and ways of working

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Product Owner you will:
- Define and manage the product vision and strategy, based on customer needs; achieved through collaboration with colleagues responsible for designing customer journeys. Develop and maintain strong relationships with Customer Journey (Business) teams and Delivery Squads, so that clear understanding and communication of customer needs flows across this ecosystem.
- Develop Epics and User-Stories which represent customer requirements. Develop detailed product feature specifications and ensure they’re clearly understood. Be consistently available to the Delivery Squads to answer queries concerning user requirements, and during Showcase events test that the acceptance criteria for the product increment has been met.
- Form the epics and user-stories into a value prioritised backlog; perpetually refine the backlog so that the Delivery Squads have a qualified transparent pipeline of work at all times. Make tough decisions on what features to include in each sprint or release, based on the value they will deliver to customers and the business. Continuously monitor the delivered product improvements effect using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and prioritize future improvements.
- Operate with a prioritisation approach that puts delivery of customer value as the prime orientation yet balances the business dimensions of Risk and Governance. Ensure that the product is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards and manage any legal or ethical considerations related to the product.
- Collaborate with peer Product Owners to understand system (people/process/tech) capabilities, to link common requirements on backlogs, and highlight duplication. Contribute to an efficient use of business resources and time but pursuing common solutions wherever possible.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years as a Product Owner in organisations with mature Agile Practice culture and methods. Agile knowledge and skills acquired through extensive practical experience. Scrum & Kanban knowledge and application
- Proficiency with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence (Desirable)
- Leadership of collaborative cross-functional teams (eg. Agile ways of working)
- May have been a Scrum Master, or Customer Experience practitioner in the past
- Customer centric thinker. Understanding of business + customer value created through incremental development of customer products/services/experiences
- Commercially astute: makes decisions using data that produces a backlog of work for viable return on investment delivery, business efficiency, and waste eradication. Mastery in prioritisation, product road map planning & execution
- Drives for results: assisting people to overcome obstacles with rigour, focusing on topics that matter so that delivery & service performance trends positively. Creates clarity.
- Is a positive agitator for change & continuous improvement; acts as a role model for personal situational adaptability. Is curious
