Hydrophis (https://www.hydrophis.eco) is a climate technology start-up that has successfully developed new technology to convert waste CO2 and desalination brine into green materials. The company is working with scientists, laboratories, and engineers to build an ecosystem for CO2 recycling. The company's pilot plant began operations at Adelaide Desalination Plant in Mar-2023 and is continuing more R&D this year to refine the technology and push further on the discovery of new mineral compounds.
RoleThe company has an exciting contract opportunity to join as Production Manager at our Lonsdale site. Reporting to the CEO, Hydrophis Australia, you will be responsible for the overall running of the 4-month pilot phase (Apr-July 2024) working in partnership with our Head of Research and the desalination plant staff. This position will deliver results across chemical process, design, carbon capture, R&D, innovation, EPA and cost criteria. It is a fixed-term contract position (5-day week, day-shifts 08:00-16:30) with attractive pay and superannuation benefits.
You will enjoy being responsible for delivering on:
- Running the pilot plant, including forklift operation
- Troubleshooting the pilot plant and handling repairs/modifications
- Managing inbound and outbound shipments of reagents, parts, products
- Process R&D including updating logbooks and managing the rig data
- Environmental risk management and EPA compliance
- Workplace health and safety
The Person
The ideal candidate will have experience ideally in a desalination, water treatment or bulk chemical production environment for 5+ years and be able to manage suppliers/contractors. Experience of water production processes in accordance with EPA regulations would be useful. You will have excellent communication skills, be well versed in chemical engineering and water quality testing chemistry procedures, and must hold a current forklift licence.
