The Returned & Services League of Australia promotes the interests and welfare of Australia’s defence families, which includes current and past serving men and women and their families. We work with a wide range of partners to deliver holistic services that focus on helping current and past serving men and women return to health, work and civilian life. The Veterans Services Division is integral to the organisations ability to achieve the objects of the RSL and provides advice and assistance to individual members and their families for services related to welfare.
Job Purpose
This role will lead the sustainable development and delivery of the newly announced Reach Out Program. This program, funded by DVA, acts as a visitation program to those Veterans less mobile or situated in remote areas, providing welfare services to veterans and their families via Welfare Officers.
The role will manage key internal and external relationships across government agencies, third party providers/contractors, fellow ESO’s, the Sub-Branch network to deliver the strategic priorities of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the implementation of the Veterans Services Visitation Welfare Program – Reach Out, covering the client and the Welfare Officer
- Manage the development and implementation of the online Welfare Officer Training Portal
- Manage the Volunteer Welfare Officers including recruitment and rostering
- Manage budget and funding channels for maximum productivity.
- Develop and maintain operational and administrative systems and procedures to support the effective management of the program.
- Manage risks and issues arising in the course of service management.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification that could include management, HR, resource planning, social service, or health and wellbeing disciplines.
- A good understanding of technology
- Previous experience in a client management/case management field
- Previous staff management experience
- Ability to show empathy and work in highly sensitive environments and situations
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally to RSL (SA/NT Branch)
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in working directly with veterans and their families
- SA or NT “C” class driver’s license.
