Job Description:Wood is recruiting a Project Control Manager as part of our strategic growth plan for 2024 and beyond. You will join our Operations business in a pivotal role as we partner with a major player in the Oil & Gas industry on a major brownfields Engineering Service Contract. Based in Perth CBD, this is a permanent role and is available as a full-time / part-time (job share) basis.Wood's “Operations” APAC West business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas industry and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region's most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Southeast Asia.Join us in the heart of Perth's CBD with free 24/7 access to an exclusive on-site gym, superb end of trip facilities, coffee machines serving on demand and plenty of spaces to get creative. In addition, you will have access to remote and flexible working options, purchased annual leave and employee discount programs.Responsibilities:Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you will step up and into a dedicated client contract team. You will balance technical, team, client, and project leadership across onshore gas plants (including LNG) and offshore gas and condensate production facilities and thrive on the challenge of:
  • Studying and understanding all relevant project documents and conditions
  • Establishing and defining job orientated Project Control procedures and reporting requirements
  • Defining primary job objectives clearly at project and departmental management levels by highlighting schedule and cost requirements
  • Organising and directing the activities of the Project Control team
  • Establishing and implementing document management and control processes
  • Ensuring the maintenance of both time and cost trend performance indicators and statistics
  • Analysing and comparing both schedule and cost information and relating conclusions such that management control action is alerted at the right time
  • Reviewing overall job status with cost/planning engineers and management and recommending corrective action where necessary
  • Reviewing actual progress against planned progress, particularly with regard to manpower levels, productivity, performance metrics and payment
  • Liaising with other team leaders at all meetings relative to project operations, to ensure that information affecting schedule and cost is continually up-dated
  • Co-ordination of the final job statistics and analysis of the effectiveness of procedures for possible improvement on future projects
  • Providing feedback on key project issues to Department Management team on a timely basis
In this highly visible client facing role, your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Project Control portion, while enabling the ongoing growth and development of your team. If you have a visa application in progress, you are also encouraged to apply.Suitably qualified in an engineering, project management or a related field from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven experience working in a similar Project Control Manager role, supported by 15+ years of relevant experience within the Oil & Gas production and / or processing industries.In addition, you will:
  • Extensive relevant industry experience in Project Control positions, including significant experience supervising others
  • Significant experience and capability in management of contracts, budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling and management of change
  • Knowledgeable across engineering, procurement and constructions execution
  • Understands the use and applications of Project Controls department tools and systems
  • Possess keen business insight: embraces Wood's strategic purpose and goals and translates these into practical concepts relevant to project execution
  • Builds knowledge networks: creates and maintains a global network of subject matter experts inside and outside their team and Wood
  • Ability to think analytically, conceptually and adaptively, and make sense of new information across multiple levels of detail
  • Able to address substantive conflicts and facilitate timely resolution: builds collaborative relationships, engages others, fosters teamwork, aligns differences
  • Good mentoring skills: teaches, coaches, and mentors to help assure individual and team success as well as develop the next generation
  • Able to foster development of a common vision and collaboration among team members and teams across geographical and cultural boundaries, promotes open expression of ideas, encourages and empowers others to achieve
