Our Lihir operation is now recruiting for an experienced and detail oriented Senior Project Controller.

The Project Controller / Senior Project Controller is responsible for effectively managing all aspects of project controls, including estimating, cost control and scheduling for specific areas of projects. They will ensure that project activities are carried out efficiently and align with budget while also monitoring progress and identifying any potential issues or risks. They work collaboratively with project managers to develop accurate cost estimates for project tasks and activities. Track expenses and analyse variances between actual and projected costs providing regular reports to project managers. They also create and maintain project schedules identifying potential delays.
Essential criteria
- 6-10+ years of relevant experience in a similar environment
- Broad mining relevant work experience essential and across the entire mining lifecycle
- Proven track record for the delivery of project objectives and established targets
- Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building & conflict resolution
- Tertiary qualification in an Engineering, Project Management or related discipline.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own and others health and safety.
- Embodies and exemplifies Newmont’s vision and values.
- Stays focused and composed in stressful situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to work constructively with diverse groups and cultures
- Prior experience leading a team in a diverse cultural environment in a mining context is desirable
- Prior experience working in a diverse cultural environment in a mining context
- Previous experience working on projects in remote locations and developing countries
- Must be open to travel to PNG (Lihir)
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical
- Must be able to complete a National Police Check.
