Sigrist Design is an Australian-owned specialist manufacturer of engineering solutions for air movement, including filtration, ventilation, dust management and extraction that has been in operation for over 30 years. We serve a broad range of industrial, food manufacturing and commercial clients mostly in Queensland.
The two broad divisions within the business are Manufacturing and Projects. This role has a focus on Projects delivery and examples include design, build, installation and maintenance of:
- dust collectors and filtration systems.
- ducting and ventilation stacks.
- material handling fans and systems.
Key Responsibilities for the role
- Successfully deliver engineering projects.
- Manage the project lifecycle from estimation to commissioning.
- Undertake technical review of mechanical design documentation.
- Provide effective leadership and direction to the project team.
- Manage the balance between customers, production and results.
The role includes...
- Preparation of documentation ensuring project compliance to Australian Standards, client specifications, project plans and procedures.
- Interpretation of client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and in budget.
- Coordination of internal and external resources to ensure that projects and maintenance adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Assigning and monitoring resources to ensure project efficiency and maximise deliverables.
- Managing the contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and business requirements including quote evaluation and subcontract establishment.
- Engaging in Lean Manufacturing activities and improvement initiatives.
- Interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications, and providing advice on engineering methods and procedures to achieve construction and production requirements.
Skills and attributes to be successful in the role
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, with experience in a similar role.
- Minimum of 5 years of Engineering Project experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a "team-oriented" approach to the achievement of projects
- Ability to take ownership of work scopes and be outcome-oriented.
- Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in manufacturing.
- Experience using CAD platforms, like Autodesk Inventor would be an advantage.
- Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle, setting quality and performance standards, and assessing risks.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
- Be competent with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability as a logical thinker, planner, and task-focused.
