Position Summary
The Project Engineer – Construction Management is responsible for the Project Management and delivery of Engineering related Projects and Civil Infrastructure. This is achieved by developing, implementing and running all contemporary and business defined Project Management systems and applications.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and/ or develop scopes of work, technical specifications, tender documents and related documentation.
- Provide expert Civil Engineering Technical advice on design, specifications and tender evaluation.
- Planning and rolling out initiatives which include the development project plans, defining goals and deliverables, creating detailed roadmaps, and organising resources to reach project milestones.
- Create and manage project budgets by estimating costs, tracking expenses, and ensuring that the project remains within budget allocation constraints.
- Manage potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate and monitor risk factors; creating risk management plans and coordinating the resolution of issues.
- Make critical decisions throughout the project lifecycle by evaluating options, weighing risks and benefits, and considering input from team members and stakeholders.
- Track and report project performance against predefined metrics, taking corrective actions if necessary to ensure the project is up to date and project documentation is accurately recorded.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
- Post graduate qualifications in Project Management or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of structured Project Management frameworks and methodologies, preferably Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) 6th Ed.
- 5-10 years’ experience in Project Management including the setting up and delivery of project management frameworks from concept to handover.
- Strategic in approach: understands and addresses inter-dependencies and real issues.
- Clear definition of requirements (tested by real customer requirements) and timetables.
- Experience managing to deliverables and milestones: on time/within budget/meeting business needs.
- Proven experience with projects of similar size and scope.
