The Project Management Officer (Capital Projects) reports to the Manager, Recreation and Sport Planning and is responsible for managing the planning and delivery of funded capital projects at selected sites under the care and control of the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing.

The role will liaise with key project stakeholders (internal and external) and provide timely project and budget status reports to ORSR Senior Executive and Government. The job includes both hands-on and administrative duties.

Priority projects for delivery include:

• Associated Mile End Precinct redevelopments.

• This role has been classified as a position of trust. The incumbent is subject to a satisfactorygeneral probity check in line with departmental policies and procedures.
• This role requires a National Criminal History check.
• The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
• The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
  
• Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
• Current driver’s licence and the willingness to drive is essential.
  
• Demonstrated experience managing facility development projects/construction projects
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets and schedules for large construction projects
• Demonstrated experience conducting successful and meaningful stakeholder engagement, and ability to navigate competing interest.

The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) is the lead agency for the Government’s policy on sport and active recreation. ORSR is responsible for State Government policy and legislation as it relates to the sector, its key programs, sport and recreation infrastructure and funding programs. The ORSR supports sport and recreation organisations, Councils and the community through the development of policy, programs and resources, the provision of funding, recreation and sport planning, infrastructure development, elite sport pathways and programs, and the promotion of physical activity.

The Infrastructure and Planning division provides a strategic and integrated approach towards the planning, development, delivery and management of recreation and sport infrastructure and works to build diversity, strength, capacity and sustainability with industry clients and the community.

The division is responsible for a number of the State’s key sporting assets, including major sporting venues such as the South Australian Sports Institute, Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics, Adelaide Super-Drome, and SA Athletics Stadium. It is also responsible for managing the delivery and mobilisation of key projects including the new South Australian Sports Institute and the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.

It also undertakes strategic facility planning and works closely with stakeholders in the development of sound business cases to inform Government strategic investment decisions.
