Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 18 months.

• Lead policy development, relating to often ambiguous and complex issues impacting the Tasmanian business sector – providing strategic advice and producing clear written documentation that is based on analysis, reasoning and consultation with stakeholders.
• Lead the development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of projects, programs, grants, and services in alignment with the priorities of the Small Business Unit, and the Government more broadly.
• Prepare high quality written documentation, including ministerial responses, briefing notes, function packages, deeds and contracts, budget documents, strategic project plans, communications plans, procedures and responses to stakeholder enquiries.
• Represent the department to undertake consultations, negotiations and contract management activities with stakeholders from a wide variety of government agencies, non-government organisations, and the business sector (including business advisors).
• Analyse data and information to identify trends, drivers and issues impacting the Tasmanian small business sector to inform reporting and strategic decision making.
