We are seeking an experienced Project Manager across our Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane or Melbourne CBD office locations. Full-time hours are available. Offers will be based on candidate performance and operational requirements. Flexible working conditions are available.

About the OFWO

The Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman (OFWO) is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act). Our functions outline the responsibilities we have as set by the Fair Work Act and other legislation to achieve our purpose:

  • provide education, assistance, advice and guidance to employers, employees, outworkers, outworker entities and organisations
  • promote and monitor compliance with workplace laws
  • inquire into and investigate breaches of the Fair Work Act
  • take appropriate enforcement action
  • perform our statutory functions efficiently, effectively, economically and ethically.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for employment with the OFWO you must be an Australian citizen. 
  • The successful candidate must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA) or be willing to undergo and obtain a Baseline security clearance.

About the Branch 

The Technology Branch is responsible for delivering and maintaining secure, stable, reliable, and modern internal and external facing systems that support OFWO business areas to deliver OFWO’s functions to the highest standard. Our IT infrastructure is provided under a Memorandum of Understanding with Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. 

We are currently seeking a highly self-motived and experienced Assistant Director to undertake the role of  Project Manager to manage and deliver IT projects/programs in accordance with the agency’s Project Management Framework (PMF) and other related polices, processes and procedures. 

Typical Duties 

The Assistant Director, Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of complex technology related projects requiring high level of engagement and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Director, Project Manager will work in the Customer and Collaboration team and in addition to managing the delivery of projects, will assist with and contribute to business-as-usual service delivery outputs that align to the strategic and operational outcomes for the branch. 

The duties of this role include, but, are not limited to:

  • Lead, manage, deliver and monitor projects in accordance with the agency Project Management Framework (PMF) and other related policies, procedures and processes
  • Collaborate, coordinate and consult with other teams on potential IT investments, initiatives and business drivers that may require specific input and expertise 
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management activities for a project or program
  • Design and implement effective stakeholder engagement and communications strategies for all project stages
  • Oversee and analyse project outputs, aims and objectives
  • Monitor program outcomes and analyse against budget specifications
  • Report on program outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate the use of specialist project service providers, including contractors and consultants.
  • Evaluate specialist proposals from contractors, select contractors and manage consultant/contractor providers
  • Review and clear briefs
  • Support the Director, Customer & Collaboration as required
  • Support the development of branch implementation plans and associated key activities to meet team outcomes. 

Please note: travel may be required as part of this role.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive and collaborative mindset with a focus on developing strong working relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Considerable project management experience with a demonstrated ability to achieve results 
  • An understanding of project management processes and managing procurements as required
  • Initiative, sound judgement and the demonstrated ability to take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work.
  • Sound problem solving skills, with the ability to work through issues to resolution within an Agile software development environment.
  • Experience in staff supervision, leading teams and managing contractors.
