Role Purpose
The Project Officer – CALD Communities provides strategic recommendations and coordinates operational functions which ensure successful delivery of services and programs to improve the health status of CALD communities living with diabetes.
Reporting to the Priority Area Team Manager, this role provides project oversight and governance of the service. It plays a key role in program content development, variations and expansion, ensuring the program remains evidence-based and in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide oversight for the development and delivery of CALD programs achieved through Diabetes Australia operational priorities and contracted programs.
Responsible for monitoring KPI performance, project budget, evaluation and data collection and related project administration tasks.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including leaders/influencers within CALD Communities, Primary Health Networks, cultural community groups, government and non-government organisations.
Lead the identification of service access issues and health priorities for CALD communities in NSW & ACT, and provide accurate, timely advice to inform health service providers and service planners of priority health needs and key issues.
Offer advice on strategic cultural issues and matters relating to the health of the CALD community.
Identify opportunities for program funding and participate in preparation of funding proposals.
Represent Diabetes Australia on relevant working groups, and external groups to enhance CALD service provision.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies and ensure practices are inclusive and free from bias.
Model the principles and values of Diabetes Australia Group and behave and communicate as a fair and ethical professional.
Required Capabilities
Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
Demonstrated experience providing oversight of a health promotion program within a health environment – engaging and addressing health disparities, access and equity issues – focussed upon improving participant health outcomes, ideally within CALD communities.
Demonstrated experience in community consultation, needs assessment, community development work with CALD communities including capabilities to influence, motivate and mobilise interest, to create change in settings that may be resistant to change.
Identified capabilities in project management, including project planning and evaluation skills and/or respective qualification.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy; high level presentation and report writing skills.
