Salary: UOM 6 – $92,749 – $100,397 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role
The Climate Reality Project (TCRP) is a worldwide climate action organisation, founded by former US Vice President Al Gore following the global success of his film An Inconvenient Truth. TCRP’s base in Australia and the Pacific is hosted at the University of Melbourne. TCRP values integrity, teamwork, maturity, adaptability, and meticulousness in supporting individuals and institutions acting on climate change. Originally focused on building the base of trained Climate Reality Leaders (CRLs) in Australia, the branch is increasingly expanding its presence in New Zealand and the Pacific. The CRL network is geographically diverse with the shared goal of making the greatest difference on climate change within their spheres of influence.  

As Project Officer you will play a critical role in supporting existing and future cohorts of leaders as well as reviewing existing back-office systems and devising and implementing new systems and structures to service this growth.  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting CRLs as individuals and within their organisations and communities, in maximising the impact of their efforts for climate action  
  • Assisting to design and build a strong recruitment and retention strategy for TCRP initiatives including developing and implementing improved structures and technical systems to service the growth 
  • Developing and maintaining a database of key stakeholders, events, and opportunities for impact relevant to Climate Reality’s interests 
  • Supporting the coordination of large scale national/international training events, and co-leading on smaller gatherings  

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for someone with demonstrated project management capability and high-level attention to detail and demonstrated capacity to work both independently and within a team. You will have the ability to handle competing priorities and complete deliverables within deadlines and budget. You will have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to liaise and work effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.   

You will also have: 

  • Completion of a relevant degree level qualification with subsequent relevant work- related experience  
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Climate Reality, with a track record of working with communities and individuals to create positive climate impact  
  • A strong commitment to climate justice 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and trends around climate change, domestically or internationally 

Climate Reality leadership training and experience working with diverse audiences will be highly regarded.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
