Exciting New Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Design, coordinate, implement and evaluate state-wide preventive health strategies and interventions to protect and promote health and reduce the burden of disease associated with blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs), with a focus on STIs
The role
Reporting to the Advanced Public Health Officer (STI Team), BBV/STI Unit, you will apply evidence, theory, and judgment to plan, implement, and evaluate services addressing BBVs and STIs. Collaboration with national partners, state government departments, clinical networks, and non-government service providers is essential in this role to coordinate the development and execution of preventive health services. You will provide professional advice to senior management, influencing strategic planning and delivery of complex BBV and STI preventive health programs.
In this role, your contribution to developing and maintaining appropriate BBV and STI information for professionals and the general public is significant. As a representative of the Department of Health, you will participate in forums and working groups, actively shaping strategies, policies, and guidelines addressing BBVs and STIs. You will utilise data to inform and underpin evidence-based program design, implementation, and evaluation. Additionally, you will promote a work environment that fosters feedback, innovation, and a high level of customer focus.
The successful person
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to apply a high level of knowledge, expertise and skills addressing BBV and STI issues in a complex contemporary population health environment with a focus on STIs. You will also have demonstrated ability to engage in high level, operational and community consultation and provide high level professional advice on BBV and STI issues to stakeholders both within and outside the discipline.
In addition to this, you will have demonstrated ability to design and manage BBV and STI projects, programs and services involving stakeholders from a range of disciplines and lead change through dissemination and communication of key outcomes. You will have demonstrated ability to research and analyse information and interpret data on complex issues to inform development of policy and procedures and quality service improvements related to BBV and STI prevention, testing and treatment in population health.
Please note that the successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree qualification in Public Health. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.
