Purchasing Officer / Coordinator

Master Steel specialize in the technical manufacture and assembly of steel components for the heavy industries and local councils. In this position you will be part of the operations team where you will perform project tracking and coordination while meeting the client’s expectations. Further duties include:

• Procurement
  • Raising purchase orders requisitions and coordinate deliveries with operations
  • Overseeing purchases including checking costs against project budgets, ensuring targets are met, etc
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding price 
  • Negotiation of prices
  • Ensuring project materials are correct and meet standard requirements 
• Coordination
  • Assist projects team in activities by understanding the goals in each specific project
  • Scheduling, planning and coordination of activities relevant to workshop / project requirements
  • Provide progress updates and ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with the client’s directions
  • Liaising with suppliers and clients on logistics / tracking (must be able to drive)
  • Coordinating dispatches and deliveries with external stakeholders
• Various administrative tasks and assisting team with achieving project / workshop requirements 

About You

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, working in a project-based environment. Further to this, the ideal candidate will have:

• Must have Australian industry experience
• Must have experience in procurement, planning and coordination
• Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, other related industries (highly advantageous)
• Must have an eye for detail (prices, units, etc)
• On site experience (highly advantageous but not necessary)
• Clear communication and planning skills required 
• Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook) are essential
• Must  be good with IT equipment and software 
• Extremely organised and outcomes-based
• Good attitude, integrity and team player
